Tomorrow's World is Shaped Today
AFTER TWENTY YEARS KOF'S MISSION STATEMENT OF
RESEARCH ... EDUCATION ... EXCHANGE FELLOWSHIP
CONTINUES TO FLOURISH
KOF has been instrumental in providing equipment and supplies to hospitals abroad in areas that are poor and with limited access to necessary medical provisions.
Everyone is making STRIDES because...
Innovative joint replacement techniques and state-of-the-art materials developed through ongoing research, hundreds of patients are now pain free and enjoy dramatic improvements in their quality of life.
The common goals of Waterbury Hospital Health Center, Yale University and the Keggi Orthopaedic Foundation are woven together to ensure that the high standards of education in orthopaedic are maintained.
Connecticut doctors have opportunities to share perspectives on health care with visiting doctors, which fosters a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the AMerican system.
Research leads to accelerated recovery time and joint function is restored to normal range,
Representatives of KOF frequently present research findings and technical papers at major national and international Orthopaedic seminars. Research finding disseminated in this way, results in better quality hearth care.
Research in conjunction with the Orthopaedic Center for Joint Replacement that the Waterbury Hospital Health Center and Yale University School of Medicine - Department of Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation attracts both regional and national recognition.
KOF hosts exchange fellowship with the physicians/nurses from Baltic Nations and Republics of the former Soviet Union. These Fellows participate at both Waterbury and Yale as well as at other satellite locations in the US and UK. Under the direction of Kristaps J. Keggi, MD, the Fellows get exposure to western standards and acquire knowledge.
By awarding grants to medical residents, the scope of KOF reaches far beyond the local orthopaedic community.
KOF has sent many American ambassadors abroad who offer assistance in-
changing attitudes about health care...
patient care...
legal systems...
medical teamwork...
Greater understanding of hip/knee replacements exists abroad because of KJK's teaching of advanced western procedures.
By exposing the Fellows from other countries to American surgical methods and post operative routines, their own results with joint replacement surgeries, once sadly ineffective, are now very encouraging.
